No, I can’t see you, but I know you’re delicious. July 17, 2008

You’re probably going to think I’m a freak, but I have a very strange fetish.
not like, feet, or bondage or anything creepy.
its just that i think i like male characters in books more than actual people.
like, characters in books are SO ATTRACTIVE.

i’m sure by now you’ve all heard of Edward Cullen, the dreamiest vampire in the entire world (sorry brad pitt, you were hot in Interview with a Vampire, but you’ve got NOTHING on him).
I think the reason he is so damn hot is because he looks however the reader wants him too.
all book characters do.
add that to the fact that he’s dangerous, charming, caring, and gentlemanly, and you’ve got god-like material.

but its bothering me that all these people are screaming about the movie because of the actor they chose to play edward.
“OMG HE’S SO UGLY, HE CAN’T BE EDWARD, HE DOESN’T LOOK ANYTHING LIKE EDWARD.”
that pretty much sums up a lot of people’s sentiment about Robert Pattinson.
not mine. personally i think the boy is damn beautiful

SO BEAUTIFUL
SO BEAUTIFUL

HOW IS THAT NOT ATTRACTIVE. I mean, seriously people.

ANYWAY. personal opinions aside.
how can people claim that he looks nothing like edward cullen,
when they haven’t seen him?
he isn’t a real person, as sorry as i am to say it.
just because your own little mind isn’t big enough to grasp the fact that SOME PEOPLE MAY THINK DIFFERENTLY THAN YOU, doesn’t mean you can go around preaching about it.
honestly people, come on.
its like saying that love is the color red.
just because YOU see love as the color red, does not mean it IS the color read.
theres a difference, which surprisingly few people understand apparently, from what i’ve seen online and in other people’s blogs.
i mean, really, all of us hardcore twilight fans are going to be terribly upset with the movie, in all reality.
the book to movie transition is NEVER good. its either a good movie or a good book, its never really both, unless the two are entirely different.
look at The Shining, for example.
BRILLIANT BOOK. and a fantastic movie. how? they changed half the plot to make it shorter.
you get the general idea, but plot points are sacrificed for the good of the whole.
so its a good book, a good movie, but good if you’re not open to the change in the plot.
which most twilight fans won’t be. and i doubt i will be either.
face it, kids. you can’t take a book that size and put it word-for-word into a movie.
if you do, you’ll end up with a 4 hour movie (aka Pride & Prejudice, the BBC version, or The Shining, the second movie which was hours and hours long, and even steven king didn’t like it as much as the original, with Jack Nicholson. Although really, who can beat Jack?) that either needs to be made into a miniseries or will never be available in theaters.
or if it is, even the most hardcore twilight fans won’t want to see it in theaters.
who wants to sit there for 4 hours, in fear of getting up and going to the bathroom and missing something crucial?
no one.
anyway, back to my original thesis.
now, Stephanie Meyer gives us generic clues, such as hair color, eye color, and the fact that he’s “beautiful” or however she describes it.
so we know he’s got bronze hair, eyes that change color, and he’s drop dead gorgeous.
the fact that he’s described as so attractive instantly negates all other descriptive characteristics in our minds, whether you accept it or not.
okay, so you know he’s insanely attractive.
you instantly put that through you’re type-meter (the thing in your brain that calculates who and what you find hot), and out the other end pops your very own delicious vampire boy…..who may or may not look like what he’s supposed to look like.
i know that when I first read Twilight, I thought of edward as being tall, with reddish-gold hair (not really bronze, more red, lots more red) that was long and all over the place, with the constant need to flick it out of his eyes. I also thought of Alice Cullen as having blonde hair that was really short and spikey, and was really short and curvacious (if thats how you spell that?).
as you can see, my versions of the characters didn’t exactly coincide too well with how the characters looked in stephanie meyers head, and they certainly look nothing like the actors cast in the upcoming movie.
does that stop me from loving alice and lusting after edward?
NO.
because i know that most people see it differently than I do.
so i don’t know why more people don’t just accept it and move on.
Rob Pattinson should NOT be getting death threats because he’s not “perfect” enough to play edward.
that is just sick and wrong people, SICK AND WRONG.
i say we just let people live in their fantasies, and remember that everyone thinks differently.
therefore everyone sees edward cullen differently.
therefore WHY IS EVERYONE STILL BITCHING BECAUSE THE MOVIE DOES NOT EQUAL THE BOOK?
GRR.
lets all calm down, take a breather, and remember:
books do not equal movies. and movies do not equal books.

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU! but, really, it was really weird because when i pictured this all in my head, it is the same in the movie. I even pictured Robert Pattinson in the book because he was a perfect edward. but your right, people shouldnt bitch about all this. NOBODY’S PERFECT. come on people, even frickin hannah montana knows that!
